In need of investment and funding for your innovation? Not yet available, still in development, or just a concept? There could be opportunities for investment with support of Shared facilities.
Conditions to get funding:
- The new research equipment or facilities are shared via open access.
- It supports the ambitions detailed in our Fields of innovation (Circular Agrifood, Food & health and Protein Shift).
- It is innovative and unique.
- It must benefit multiple organisations in the Foodvalley ecosystem and automatically becomes available to all organisations via the pay-per-use principle.
- Investments in research equipment need to support the connection and /or collaboration with Wageningen University & Research.
Funding opportunities
Subsidy Shared Facility
The broadening of the Regio Deal Foodvalley subsidy scheme provides companies and institutes up to 50% subsidy for new facilities from validation of the prototype up to market launch (TRL 5-8).
The subsidy scheme is available to organisations that jointly want to set up a knowledge and innovation cluster within which a shared facility is realised. The shared facility must contribute to protein transition, circular agrifood and/or food and health. The cluster must consist of at least three organisations with preferably at least one organisation is a knowledge partner.

Subsidy for shared advanced research equipment
The subsidy scheme stimulates companies and institutes to realise research equipment in the Dutch provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht. Equipment for fundamental research is often expensive, yet it is hardly ever used to its full capacity. To address this challenge, the Regio Deal Foodvalley subsidy scheme provides companies and institutes the possibility to invest in shared advanced research equipment (Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 1-3).

Subsidy SME Innovation Voucher
Maximise productivity and accelerate innovation by sharing facilities. Sharing facilities is fast, sustainable and cost-effective. Regiodeal Foodvalley offers companies and institutes subsidies for sharing facilities in the areas of protein transition, food and health and/or circular agrifood.
Investment conditions
The subsidy provides SMEs with a unique opportunity to access the scientific talent and facilities they need to develop (TRL 4-6) and demonstrate (TRL 7-8) innovative products.
SME must be incorporated and registered to execute business in the Netherlands and or EU; €2,000,000 available; Maximum 50% co-financing, with funding from a €10,000 to €50,000 towards an eligible project (See application form).
The SME Innovation Voucher is intended to subsidize expenses related to the rental or utilization of a shared pilot facility, including the expertise and operational staff necessary for the execution of the proposed project. Accordingly, a minimum of 50% of the total project costs must be allocated directly to the use of the facility.
Cofinancing may not be applied toward in-kind contributions, internal research activities, or any other internal expenses incurred by the applicant.
