With pleasure, Foodvalley NL on Wednesday welcomed Dutch outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte at our office in Wageningen.

The purpose was to have our Prime Minister experience firsthand the dynamics of the buzzing (international) food ecosystem with its roots firmly in Wageningen. Joined by a wide array of partners, we talked about Foodvalley’s approach to bolstering the global food system and its role as a Practice Leader.

As an independent party, Foodvalley NL connects the dots within the wider ecosystem with more than 600 diverse global partners working directly to make an impact. During his visit, Mark Rutte met with partners from our three Innovation Fields – Protein Transition, Circular Agri-food and Food & Health – to discuss how getting food innovations to market works in practice, how their work contributes to a more sustainable food system and, of course, to taste their products.

A flourishing ecosystem

To learn more about the wider ecosystem, the tour continued with a visit to DSM-Firmenich as well as to food-tech and agri-tech startup accelerator StartLife and the WUR’s Value Creation Department. The tour concluded with a visit to the OnePlanet Research Center; a research organisation focused on developing sensors and using chip technology in agri-food.
