Foodvalley NL was Ambassador of the BioeconomyVentures project, together with 19 other European organisations. The project built the reference platform for bioeconomy-based startups and spin-offs seeking to gain access to finance, becoming the main meeting point in the European bioeconomy. Bioeconomy entrepreneurs are essential in the transition to a sustainable food system, for example by finding new ways to recover ingredients from waste streams.
The project had three objectives. A first goal of the project was to develop the European bioeconomy entrepreneurship ecosystem. Second, an assessment methodology was made to qualify and quantify the needs of startups and spin-offs in the bioeconomy. Third, a platform was be developed that serves as a meeting point for relevant stakeholders in the bioeconomy.
As Ambassador of the project, Foodvalley organised two Expand & Explore Workshops. During these workshops, several startups from Foodvalley’s ecosystem were given the opportunity to pitch their innovation in front of investors. The first workshop took place in December 2022, the other one in the May 2023. In total, 13 European startups pitched their innovations. Moreover, investors and experts from various backgrounds provided the participants with valuable feedback. Both workshops received positive feedback from participants.
